It's funny, but it seems like this movie gets somewhat forgotten. Don't think we've discussed it much on here but it's the last of Charlie's outdoor action adventures before he settled into all the DEATH WISH sequels and Cannon fodder. Wish he would have made a few more like this during that era. It's got a nice cast with old pro Lee Marvin starring opposite Charlie and great rugged locations. Charlie barely has any dialog, but he's always excelled as the strong silent type and is perfect in the role. There is a nice scene right before a shootout with Charlie singing "My Darling Clementine" that added some nuance to the character.

I agree that for some reason this film is always forgotten. But this is definatly a classic Bronson movie. Lee Marvin is also very good in his role and it's good to see two great actors with so much history and chemistry get to work together again. I don't think this role would have been hard for Bronson to play, but it's the kind of character he's always played so well. The actions scenes are really good and you really feel the desperation of the characters. I think this was a big precursor to First Blood and also a better more fast paced film.
On top of that it also had one of Bronson's most badass moments when he jumps out of the flame blasting two shotguns!

This is perhaps the very best movie Bronson did in the 80's (unlike most of his movies made during that period, it wasn't produced by Cannon, so I guess that was a good omen.) It's basically Bronson Vs. Marvin in a cat and mouse game that have rarely been this exciting, action packed and fast-paced. I was surprised at just how good it actually is, because you rarely see it mentioned when discussing Charlie's best work, which I think this ranks as. If you thought he had few lines in Chato's Land, then you're in for a treat here ;D Hardly any lines are uttered from his mouth once the chase is on, as he's on foot all by himself, but it's so well shot, edited and acted that you don't need him to say anything at all, you're still sucked in, awaiting the outcome.
The chemistry between Lee Marvin, Carl Weathers and Andrew Stevens is really good. Despite the fact that they are hunting the hero of the movie, you never want Bronson to waste any of them. Great writing.
I think the biggest role belongs to the landscape. It's breathtakingly beautiful and is perfect for this kind of movie. It looks stunning on DVD and I can't compute just how awesome it could be on Blu-ray.
Certainly one of Bronson's most underrated movies. It's easily in my Top 10 list. It's just great.

An underrated movie for sure.I like that ''Me against all of you'' situation this adventure breaths. The chemistry between Lee Marvin, Carl Weathers and Andrew Stevens is really strong and effective.Maybe the one and only time I didn't want the hunters been killed.
I like the cold and inhospitable landscape.I agree that in a blu-ray edition it will look awesome. One of his best acting roles.
8/10

I like the cold and inhospitable landscape.I agree that in a blu-ray edition it will look awesome. Germany has released the movie on Blu-ray. I have the German DVD and it looks really good, so the Blu-ray must look fantastic! There is a good audio interview in the DVD & Blu-ray as well with Bronson and Marvin.

That's really good. At last a Bronson flick edition with some extras. There is now an American Blu-ray with even more extras! I've got 'em both.
