Director:J. Lee Thompson Writer(s):Rex Burns, Paul Jarrico Actors:Charles Bronson, Trish Van Devere
Bronson holds a gun in the front cover but he never uses one in the movie."Messenger Of Death" is a movie with little action but interesting story of mystery. The opening sequence is promising, we remember that J.Lee Thompson used to be a good director(Cape Fear,Guns Of Navarone).Bronson plays a reporter who tries to find out who's behind a massacre. If it wasn't a cannon, t.v. looking, cheap, picture and Bronson was a little younger it would be better. It's not dissapointing though.

It was exactly what I was thinking about his hair cut. It's funny to see a high degree soldier to have long hair.(The mustache is allowed in the army).

The first 15 minutes are amazing especially the way he appears suddenly in the first seconds.
Arthur Bishop is in my top 5 movie characters(1.Harmonica, 2.Travis Bickle, 3.Tony Montana, 4.R.P. McMurphy, 5.Arthur Bishop)

The difference is obvious between Death Wish II and 10 To Midnight.Even though I've heard that Michael Winner had said that Bronson had a face lift between Death Wish and Death Wish II.
Any way that makes no sense, If he wanted to look younger it would be easier to keep his hair, not too white.
Something else I notice between "Death Wish II" and "10 To Midnight" is that Bronson was obviously not that slim in "10 To Midnight" so maby his metabolism had changed and made his face looks puffy and weird. The hair style was also weird.

No I've not. I've seen only "The Warriors", "48 Hours", "Johny Handsome", "The Last Man Standing", and "Undisputed".The style of his later movies was a bit different.

The truth is that the script is very bad.Bronson's presence though is very powerful, his body language is unique. The way he walks, the way he grabs the bottle of whiskey, the way he puts the money on Ulman's breasts, The way he closes his eye to the little girl... and especially the way he kicks the asses of the other guys.He gives a great performance and yes the biceps help it.He was the most authentic tough and macho actor ever.

The DVD available in the U.S. are awful, worse than an old VHS. The only way to fully enjoy " CHINO", is to get the english edition of the film with a pristine copy and a good sound. It changes everything, of course... This is the one to get. Different title, too...Maybe that's the main reason I don't like it.The dvd version I own is really horrible looking.

Chino is an old-fashioned western. From a Bronson starring De Laurentis production you'd except something more interesting.Chino was one of Bronson's most boring films from 70's

It's a boring film really boring although it has Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin on the cast.

It's a tv film based on a true story with a good cast.(Martin Balsam, Horst Buchotz, Charles Bronson). It's like Delta Force but it's more realistic, more close to the real story and with less action.Bronson's performance is not that interesting in a, not that interesting, role. The first half of the movie is promising but later it becomes weak.

His face is obviously different but is it 100% sure that it was a face lift? I can't understand why a guy like Bronson lifted his face. His craggy face made him popular why to destroy it?

"Hard Times" was Walter Hill's first and also his best film.
