Al Letteri(the Godfather, The Getaway, Mcq) made a movie with Bronson "Mr. Majestik", and was talking to a friend about him, and he told me about a altercation they had. He did not go into specifics, but made me intrigued, so wondered if anyone knew anything about it.

Character actor Paul Koslo goes on for several pages in interviews about Charlie on THE MECHANIC and I will start a thread on "their" relationship. It's a doozy. From Koslo's interview comes an account on the meeting of Al Lettieri and Charlie on location.
Lettieri, described as a short, warthog type of character who was Charlie's height but twice as wide, was riding high on the success of THE GODFATHER and apparently had rather severe booze and drug problems. He arrrived with hookers in tow. He immediately sought out the star of the film. Spotting Charlie by himself, he approached and grabbed Charlie in a side hug and lifted him off the ground in a vice grip and began carrying him away singing to the tune of "Melancholy, Baby" as "Don't be a Melon Charlie, Baby". The cast and crew watched in amazement as Lettieri carried a stunned Charlie down the road. He finally let Charlie down and the two had a long conversation known only to them. Everyone was waiting for Charlie to punch Lettieri out, but the two apparently made peace.
Lettieri was reportedly quite an extreme character. He would be dead a year or so after this film from all his excesses.

I just read that Steve was cutting lines, from letteri's scenes, so Al found out, he confronted Steve, but he told Al that he knew nothing about, so Al let it go, but when he overheard Steve badmouthing him, Al confronted Steve, and made death threats toward him. Steve took his threats literally, and had a couple of armed bodyguards around him at all times, which made the cast and crew laugh, because Steve was such an asshole on the set, he got what was coming to him.

And made wonderful memories in film for all of us.they don't make them like that anymore..just look at the stars of today..
