I'll start by saying that no one could ever replace Bronson or replicate what he brought to the screen. Lately though i've noticed the similarities between Jason Statham and Charles Bronson. Both of these men are known for their awesome physiques, their "cheap" action movies and also for playing the same roles as tough guys with limited dialogue. They also both have quite an intimidating persona compared to actors such as Bruce Willis and Clint Eastwood etc. Do you agree or have anyone else that comes to mind?

I don't know Statham well enough to answer. For me, the only actor who made a similar impression than Bronson did in the sixties, was Wes Studi in "LAST OF THE MOHICANS" : same "stone face", same look in his eyes, same toughness. Too bad he didn't make bigger things after the role of Magua.

I do like Jason Statham's movies, but don't know much about his off camera credentials.

I feel that Vin Diesel has come out with some good stuff, but has not been very consistent.

He's alright for a new age action star but I feel he's basically a phony, although I don't think there is any modern star who matches up to Bronson for toughness.

Basically he just gives me a feel like he's trying way to hard to be tough instead of exuding it. The best example I can think of is a James Bond like Daniel Craig who try's hard to build up his body and put on tough facial expressions. And then a Bond like Connery or Lazenby who just walk are themselves but you can feel they are tough.

I see what you mean arthurbishop. I feel sometimes men and women in movies, try so hard to be bad asses, that they end up looking ridicules.

I think he's great, the only masculine/ entertaining action star today. With a bigger budget he could be great.

I was thinking the same thing. Jason has only been a leading man for a few years, so I believe he's only scratched the surface, of his stardom.

I like Statham as well, though most of his movies aren't very good. Still have to see a few. I'm a bit biased though because I look like Statham. One of the ladies I work with has Statham's picture on her locker and was asked by a co-worker how she got me to pose for those pictures! Flattering, but in all seriousness with a better choice of roles he may be able to break through to a higher level of stardom. Agree he's got the legitimate tough guy demeanor down like few others in this day and age.

Landed my wife a few years before Statham hit the big screen, so it's not something I've ever exploited. Like I said though, some of the ladies I work with have fun with it, telling me they saw my new movie, etc. A year or so ago Statham came on the TV and my 6 year old daughter did a double take, then asked me what I was doing on the TV. I have a little fun with it, but not TOO much.
