I was wondering if we can go in depth, and talk at length about Vin. He's had a interesting career, but has been inconsistent at best, but still promising. What do you think of his movie tough guy status?

Noticed Vin in his first few films but can't say I've kept up with his career to be able to elaborate on it. Think he's a product of his era, but one of the more effective examples. Doubt if he'll have lasting staying power in the industry but may be wrong.

I agree what you're saying Chaney. what do you mean about Vin being "product of his times"?

Think a few doors were opened for Vin's muscular type by the 80's-90's popularity of Schwarzenegger and Stallone. Bruce Willis shaving his head helped Vin's leading role chances as well. Vin's look is more akin to the type of guys who used to play secondary villains. Now he's a film headliner. Don't think his type would have been given any chance to be a star by the studios 30 to 40 years ago.

I keep hearing in many circles, that his portrayals of tough guys aren't that genuine, and you can easily see that he tries too hard at being a tough guy. What are your feelings about that Chaney?

"...he tries too hard at being a tough guy..." ...I agree on that.

Think he was a doorman in New York clubs, but don't know that qualifies him to be a screen tough guy like many of the old timers. It's not like being a disco doorman compares to a Marine storming the beaches of Iwo Jima under fire (Lee Marvin, for example).

Thanks Chaney. I would like to know more about Vin Diesel's background, so I can have a better opinion about him.

What is your opinion about why Vin's career has stalled, and do you think that he can reach the level of Arnold, or Stallone, in the action genre?

Not sure. Maybe bad choice of films. Doubt if he'll reach the iconic level of Arnold or Stallone. When those guys came on the scene they made big muscles cool and heroic. Before Arnold and Sly guys like Charlie Bronson and William Smith were cast as heavies because of their muscles, though Charlie eventually broke out. Now everybody has the muscles, Vin included, and he's just part of the pack doing the same type of films that pro wrestlers are being cast in as heroes.

So you don't really feel he can break out of the pack. He had so much promise a few years ago, with successive hits(PICTH BLACK, THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, and XXX) that he was supposed to be THE action star of the new millennium.

What do you think of his acting CHANEY? Do you feel that he just can't pull off the action type role?
