Director:Sergio Sollima Writer(s):Lina Wertmüller, Sergio Sollima, Massimo De Rita, Gianfranco Galligarich, Arduino Maiuri, Sauro Scavolini Actors:Charles Bronson, Jill Ireland, Telly Savalas, Michel Constantin
It's a great movie.Bronson is awesome.Ireland is very attractive(with all the respect on Bronson) and she has enough sexy scenes.Morricone's score is his best after the ones he did for Leone's westerns.

Yes, pure Bronson ! In the DVD extras, director Sollima admits he wanted a younger actor to play Jeff (Jon Voight), but he didn't change the dialogue : Savalas, who was two years YOUNGER than Bronson, plays a friend of his father's ! But "VIOLENT CITY" is a good thriller, like an italian ancestor to John Woo's "THE KILLER".

I definitely need to see this movie. I've heard so much great crap about it that it makes stealing this sound worth it. Apparently it was inspired by Le Samourai...
How good is the action in this, anyway?

Inspired by "LE SAMOURAÏ" ? I don't know... Well, both films are about free lance hitmen named "Jeff" who have problems with their bosses, but that's about it. "LE SAMOURAÏ" is an arty film noir with almost no action at all, at "VIOLENT CITY" is a "spaghetti thriller" with car chases, naked girls. I don't know if this is true or not but I've read some reviews online that claim that the version of this movie known as The Family is now public domain. You know how the company that released the newest version of this film on DVD (as Violent City) claims the version they released "is complete and uncut, featuring scenes omitted from all previous English language releases but because these restored scenes were never dubbed into English, they are presented here in Italian with English subtitles"? Well, some have written that that have the VHS version released as The Family and they say several scenes that were in Italian on the DVD were indeed in English on the VHS. So now, I only ask this if TF is public domain, if not, nevermind: Does anyone here have access to the scenes that were in English from The Family VHS that appeared in Italian on the VC DVD? I'd like to get those clips and intersplice them so I can have as complete as English version of the film as I can and it'd sure save me time etc. if someone here had them instead of me getting the VHS to find them etc. Any ideas, let me know, thanks in advance for the replies.
