This is another actor from the golden age of Cinema, that I like. Just got finished watching a whole day of "Bogie movies" yesterday on TV, and was really impressed with guy. I know he is a old timer, but like John Wayne his movies are timeless. I was wondering what you guys think of this actor?
Just watched all those Bogie movies as well. They had a Bogie day the week before too. Some classics. Interesting actor with a lot of depth. Sold the tough guy persona well but from what I've read he didn't have the background we come to associate with some of our screen toughs. His dad was a doctor and he was raised in private schools. Did serve in the Navy. Was a little guy too who mostly avoided getting into brawls. Imagine his screen success turning from a villain to an on-screen hero was a prototype for Bronson.

I didn't know about his youth. That is very interesting. I feel because he wasn't a tough guy in real life, what do you feel that says about his acting? I believe Robert deneiro is in the same boat too, because he sold the tough guy persona very well, but was not one in real life.
