Director:Tom Gries Writer(s):Howard B. Kreitsek, Elliott Baker, Marc Norman, (Warren Hinckle, William Turner, Eliot Asinof wrote the book "Ten Second Jailbreak") Actors:Charles Bronson, Jill Ireland, Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid, Sheree North, John Huston
"Breakout" is a nice and entertaining action flick with a lot of sense of humor.Bronson's performance is very different:he doesn't play a tough, silent guy, he plays a funny guy who talks too much instead.

Bronson already tried this kind of character in "RED SUN" and "MISTER MAJESTYK", and was surprisingly good at it. It was very unusual in the seventies, but Bronson often performed that way on TV ("HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL") or in his small parts in the fifties ("MISS SADIE THOMPSON", "BLOODHOUNDS OF BROADWAY").

Vince Majestyk was not exactly that, he was a "serious", few-words tough man.Colton was more crazy and funny. The movie(Mr. Majestyk) itself also was more serious and dramatic.

You're right, but Majestyk had his funny moments : in prison, when he jokes about Renda : "I saw him playing the accordeon on TV !", playing dumb.

Yes, but this is just humor, Colton had a very "happy" body language.

Does anyone know how he got along with, Randy Quaid and Robert Duvall?

I'd be interested to know how he got along with Roy Jenson, who appeared in BREAKOUT, BREAKHEART PASS, and TELEFON in short order. According to Robert Relyea's book, Jenson was also the stunt gaffer on NEVER SO FEW and did motorcycle stunts on THE GREAT ESCAPE. Jenson was a UCLA football player who played pro in Canada. He spent most of the late 1950's and 1960's as a stuntman before becoming a fairly prominent character actor in the 1970's. Jenson was 6'2" and over 230 pounds and had the rep as one of the toughest men in Hollywood. He used to pal around with Lee Marvin and Robert Mitchum.

This movie was a lot of fun and I loved seeing Bronson in this role, as the scheming pilot with a big heart. Perhaps not his best from the 70's, but definitely up there.

I didn't enjoy it first time time I watched it because I was expecting to see Bronson inside prison instead of trying to free Duvall from outside. However Every time I 've watched it since then I enjoyed it more and more and I find Colton's relationship with Duvall's wife very interesting...

Yea, I like the movie too. I watch it about once a year. Bronson is a little talkative and animated in this one, but I think it works.
