The best Bronson movie ever. Period. Bronson stars as retired hitman Holland, who is asked to kill the world's most notorious named Dr. Molloch after a journalist is sadistically electrocuted in front of world leaders at an exhibition. Bronson engages on a quiet, violent journey in a South American country to put an end to the mad doctor's works. This film boasts a great score, some incredible action, and the most painful penis-twisting scene you will ever witness. The very first shot of the movie is a faded sequence of Bronson throwing a knife, followed by CHARLES BRONSON written in solid letters. Fucking spectacular. Oh, and there's also a part where Bronson lies under a bed while lesbians have sex on it. [glow=babyblue,4,300] 10/10[/glow][glow=babyblue,4,300]Bronson's best![/glow]

Holland is like an older version of Bishop in "THE MECHANIC" : a hitman, who can read lips. It's one of his 80's movies the most related to his star image from the seventies.

Yes, that's true.
Take a look at the Italian title of the two movies:"Professione Assassino"(The Mechanic), "Professione Giustiziere"(The Evil That Men Do).Looks like they wanted to create a nostalgia for "The Mechanic".

I think it's one of his better '80s movies but, IMHO, it doesn't have as good a script, direction, supporting cast (or budget) as some of his better 1970s movies like Death Wish, The Mechanic, Chato's Land. To me there just wasn't a lot of suspense -- the English Doctor was no match for Bronson. Once the henchman was removed there wasn't a lot of intrigue. It's an interesting film and deals with the subject of torture well.

Overall, I enjoyed "The Evil That Men Do." The movie has lots of good scenes, but overall it's just a little dry for me. The opening torture scene is also a bit much.

Charlie looked in great shape in this film. I remember some scenes, when Charlie has a tight gray shirt on, and you can see the muscles popping right out of it! I believe Charlie is 63, at the time of this movie.

It's certainly a better movie than the hideous "Assassination"...

Sadly, it's not such a simple question. The most violent version is the one I put together, an unedited, bloody composite DVD I assembled from the Columbia print and the long out of print Carlton DVD.
The Carlton DVD is heavily butchered, but it has two gore moments that aren't available anywhere else. When Raymond St. Jacques is killed with the dagger to the throat, the Carlton disc has an alternate take of him pulling the blade out and gagging up a whole lot more blood. Also, the Carlton disc has an added shot of the torture victim from the beginning, hanging dead in the harness while the evil doctor tries to shock him further. In addition, the scene in which Bronson guns John Glover and the rival hitman down in the Mexican bar is bloodier; shooting the hit man is the same, but when Glover gets shot we see a close-up of the wound appearing in his chest, followed by a reverse shot of his back blowing out (very gory) as he's staggering backward through the door. Sadly, as I mentioned, the rest of the Carlton disc is missing nearly all the blood you'll find in the Columbia prints. The other prints around are the same as the Columbia discs, but some of those made outside the US are missing bits of blood here and there.
Strangely, it looks like director J. Lee Thompson shot alternate takes of some of the kills. How the Carlton disc, which came from the UK, wound up with two of the bloodier takes is a mystery. Too bad that was such a hard DVD to locate without paying a handsome sum.
Hope this helps!

Probably the second best movie Bronson did in the 80's after Death Hunt, at least quality-wise. Lots of great scenes in this one and some very memorable kills by Bronson. Like Majestyk said, the opening of the movie is spectacular and really sets the mood for the rest of the movie. My favorite scene must be when Charlie flirts with Randolph, squeezing his hand and invites him to have a threesome with him and his "wife". That scene makes me laugh, how often do we get to see Charles Bronson as an undercover bisexual?! A lot of people find the opening torture scene absolutely disgusting, some people can't watch that part and many have probably turned the movie off during that scene. There's a lot of threads and discussions about this on IMDb (one guy even calls it more disturbing than the rape scene in Death Wish II). Personally I don't see what the fuzz is about. I'm male and never had a problem watching it, didn't even give it a second thought back when I first watched it. An awesome and very violent action-thriller, typical of the 1980's. It's easy to see Cannon was supposed to make this at first. Not sure how different it would have turned out to be, but I'm happy with the end result. Over on DVDCompare, it only says that the R-Rated releases is missing the extra gore that the Carlton release, for some reason, included in their heavily cut release. On all the other releases it just says "No cuts", with no mention of missing those gore shots: dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=3849Strange.
