Have you ever try to watch all the death wishes together?
I haven't but it must be about 7 hours and half.

No, I never tried. But I have to confess that I'm not a big fan of the franchise, except for n°1 of course, and some moments in n°2.

I'm not a fan of the whole franchise too but I love equally both No 1 and 2.
That's way I never tried. I didn't want to start with two dark movies with a craggy faced Bronson and end up with an old Bronson in ridiculous movies.

Glad to read this ! I can't understand why a lot of Bronson fans love "DEATH WISH III" so much. It's a ridiculous comic book, with old people shooting at ugly degenerates, in a NYC neighborhood shot in London. Bronson looks old and depressed, and the final battle in the streets is absurd. Michael Winner said the film was "a comedy", Bronson hated it and never worked with Winner again, but "DEATH WISH III" has its fans. Anyone here ?

The problem with "Death Wish 3" is that the action is very weak.It has quantity but not quality and that makes it very boring.
Other movies of 80's like "The Evil That Men Do" and "Murphy's Law" directed by J.Lee Thompson have nervous and breath-taking action."Death Wish 4:The Crackdown" although it is directed by the same director has even worse action and special effects than "Death Wish 3".You see people taking bullets and starting "dancing" before they die.
Another problem with "Death Wish 3" is that it's not Bronson who stars in it but 475 Wildey Magnum who stars as "Bronson's friend" and stills the show outshining Bronson.
The only reason I like "Death Wish 3" is Ed Lauter.Bronson and Lauter make a great screen-couple and they would be great to star in a buddy-movie together.

Their relationship in "BREAKHEART PASS" was almost a buddy movie one. They were enemies in "THE WHITE BUFFALO" (briefly) and "DEATH HUNT" (good first scene with the dog). Ed Lauter is one of the few actors, along with Wilford Brimley, who was kind of a regular in Bronson's films.

I like Death Wish 3 but only as a black comedy. It was shown in LA last summer at this one theater and that's the way the audience treated it. Come to think of it, that's the way a large, drunken group of us treated it over 20 years ago when it came out. It's so completely devoid of logic that you have to just laugh. The first film was a classic -- I'd rate it in the same league as "Taxi Driver" (well, not quite that good but you get the idea)...

How do you think Bronson would be as Travis Bickle?

With a good director like Scorcese I'll bet he could have pulled it off. It wouldn't be like DeNiro but he probably could have done a good job.

I think he would have been perfect as an uneducated Vietnam veteran taxi driver.Bronson's personality fits Bickle's characteristics. In "The Mechanic" and "Death Wish" there were a some scenes with Bronson walking desperate on the streets that remind me of "Taxi Driver" and make me think that he would have been perfect for that role.Just imagine him with his classic Bronsonesque voice, speaking Bickle's monologues. Even though it would be ridiculous watching Bronson saying "You talkin' to me?" and shooting people with a Mohican hairstyle.

I'm not so sure... Bronson's persona never was "crazy", even in the first "DEATH WISH", he played Kersey as a stoic avenger. When he tried playing a nutcase like in "SOMEONE BEHIND THE DOOR", it wasn't convincing at all. And Travis Bickle IS a nutcase.

He was stoic in the first one but in the second "Death Wish" he was not that stoic I think.

Someone posted all of the kills back to back on You Tube once. Everytime Bronson would kill someone, a bell would ring. It ended with well over a hundred kills. If you want a mini-marathon, that's the way to go.

Never watched them back-to-back in one sitting. I have watched one of them per day, finishing off the series on the fifth day.
The original is easily the best, in fact I think it's one of Bronson's best ever, but I think the rest are all very entertaining as well, no matter how ridiculous and over the top they may be. I love the series. Love it!
