Terence Young planned to make a "JUAREZ AND MAXIMILIAN" with both of them, in 1973, but it never materialized.

Just take another look at the extreme close-up during the duel from "ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST" and you'll have your answer. Can't get closer than that !

In fact Smith and Bronson appeared in a film together, but didn't share screen time. It was "NEVER SO FEW", Smith had a bit as a MP, and Bronson had a more substantial small part as a sergeant.

I don't know Statham well enough to answer. For me, the only actor who made a similar impression than Bronson did in the sixties, was Wes Studi in "LAST OF THE MOHICANS" : same "stone face", same look in his eyes, same toughness. Too bad he didn't make bigger things after the role of Magua.

Leo Gordon was an interesting guy : he wrote a lot of scripts for Roger Corman, and played hundreds of heavies in movies and TV. In his book "A SIEGEL FILM", Don Siegel said he was a scary guy, and worked with him several times. Leo Gordon wrote Bronson's "YOU CAN'T WIN'EM ALL", in which he also played his sidekick.

On the french site " WILD WILD WESTERN", there's an article about Bronson's height, which is still a mystery. The official number is 1 m 84, and is highly unlikely. The article shows 4 pictures to help, and the author thinks the man was 1 m 68. Based on Ernest Borgnine who is 1 m 70, I think a little less. 1 m 64 maybe... And he looks the same size as Leone's who was short. What's your bet ? take a look : wild-wild-western.over-blog.com/article-35076587.html

Yes, he had one of the greatest walks in movie history, along with Henry Fonda's and Lee Marvin's.

I've seen "THE LAST OUTLAW", and Rourke's mustache doesn't look much like Bronson's. In this film, he plays like a weird imitation of Brando in "THE APPALOOSA" (the 1966 one).

I clearly spotted a stunt double in the airport scene in "BREAKOUT", in the fight with Paul Mantee.

In an interview in the nineties, Bronson said : "They keep sending me scripts, I keep turning them down". He didn't need or want to work anymore, that's it. I think he knew Sean Penn since he was a kid, because he did a "FUGITIVE" episode with his father Leo, as director in 1967. But I heard George Lucas wanted him as a Jedi in the second "STAR WARS" trilogy, he was contacted to play the sherif in "MISERY"...

It's already for sale in France ("LE CERCLE NOIR"), and the copy is really great. The film is even better that I remembered...

"1 $ 98" was meant to be directed by Bronson himself, starring Jill Ireland and Joe Namath, an ex-miner. Lew Grade publicized the project in Cannes, then... Nothing.
