I agree that for some reason this film is always forgotten. But this is definatly a classic Bronson movie. Lee Marvin is also very good in his role and it's good to see two great actors with so much history and chemistry get to work together again. I don't think this role would have been hard for Bronson to play, but it's the kind of character he's always played so well. The actions scenes are really good and you really feel the desperation of the characters. I think this was a big precursor to First Blood and also a better more fast paced film.
On top of that it also had one of Bronson's most badass moments when he jumps out of the flame blasting two shotguns!

This is a great movie, even though Rider on the Rain may be technically the better film I prefer this. Bronson and Delon have great chemistry and a very masculine charisma about them. Both actors really shine in the middle of the movie when they are caught in the building together.
It was also very interesting to see Bronson play a character where he wasn't black and white, the shades of gray made his character more interesting which enabled him to steal the film and engage you as he did in most of his supporting roles.

Yeah I agree they could have made a great movie together. I'm not sure about the details at all. I'm hoping Chaney or maphillips3 can help out.

I found an interesting story on another forum I visit, this is a post from one of the members: I've just been watching the extras on the Koch Johnny Hamlet disc. This is where it's from. Castellari comes across as such a humourous and warm man and related that story. Castellari went to Cannes to meet up with Bronson and was kept waiting for a week or so. Castellari enjoyed his time there but spent much of his days doing his weights and building up his already formidable muscles. During the meeting a near naked Bronson was waving his pipe about and flexing his arm muscles - paying more attention to his own physique than to the discussion. Castellari took of his jacket and started flexing his own in artificially constructed movements - trying to make it look natural. The interview has Castellari laughing and saying it must have looked ridiculous to an outside spectator. No film was ever made - although the interview does mention a title - and they ended up arm-wrestling. I'm not sure who won 'cos Castellari, (and myself), were laughing so much at this point!

That's true, the movie looks terrible. You can find the trailer on youtube, my worst fears came true that this movie would basically be turned into a john woo movie. I like Jason Statham and I really don't think he's the problem. They should have either: never touched this movie, or make it exactly like the original.

This is very weird, does anyone know what this is in relation to? It's also incredibly scary.

I think Bronson would have destroy him, in and out of the ring. Charlie is obviously a lot tougher in general. As a martial artist myself I know that unless you train like Bruce Lee it is useless, boxing is a far more practical and on top of that Elvis always looked pretty weak.

I'm sorry but I've gotta say this movie is terrible. It's turned me off wanting to see the rest of Bronson's 80's catalogue. I enjoyed Death Wish 3 and 4 and I thought The Evil That Men Do was just average. It seems as if Bronson lost something after the 70's though, or maybe it's just the movies.
Back on topic, I thought the supporting actress had terrible dialogue (I hope it was intentional), the villain was terrible and Bronson didn't seem as tough as previous movies.

That was a good story, seems like they had a pretty good mutual respect for each other.

I think a lot of that surliness carried over into the movie, but worked well for the role. But it's refreshing to hear about a different side of Charlie, although the one constant is his silence and his devotion to his family.

I just saw Point Blank the other day which is a great movie, very different to what I expected. The fight scene in the nightclub was very good, lol and what a crotch punch it was.

I was wondering if anyone knew how Bronson and Alain Delon got along? As far as I know they worked together in Red Sun and Farewell, Friend.

Bullshit he doesn't know how to act, have u ever seen On Deadly Ground. J/k, even though all these things are true, Seagal is one of those actors like Bronson where the imperfections are part of what makes their movies so great.
